The Spanish Federation of Freight Forwarders – FETEIA-OLTRA, support for the request of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations, FIATA, for the shipping companies to modify their practices regarding the delay and detention charges during the Covid-19 crisis. .
Freight forwarders agree that surcharges should not be imposed when the situation is outside the importer’s sphere of control without the movement of containers being possible. Consequently, they have asked the shipping companies to be reasonable and either do not apply these surcharges or accept flexibility in payment.
The Government of Spain considers that the TRANSPORTATION OF GOODS is an essential sector during the state of alarm and NO restrictions will apply.
Non-essential activities will cease their activity, which will undoubtedly affect the demand for transport, but not because the activity of transporting goods is limited.
To the date all our equipment is fully operational in telework, and our terminals and warehouses are operating normally.
We are in permanent contact with public organizations (Port authorities, Customs, …) and logistics agents to have updated information in real time and share it with you.
