Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares concluded his three-day diplomatic tour of the Persian Gulf, culminating his visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Thursday, February 8th.

Mr.Albares held several meetings with important Emirati leaders, including Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Emirati Vice President and Minister of the Presidential Court Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

On Thursday, February 8th, his last day in Abu Dhabi, Minister Albares met with Spanish businessmen operating in the United Arab Emirates, many of them members of the country’s Spanish Chamber of Commerce, whose president Guillermo Cobelo and secretary general Marta Fernández de Alarcón were also present.

Acciona, Airbus, Amadeus IT Group, Banco Sabadell, Barceló Hotel Group, Barraquer Eye Hospital, BBVA, Coxabengoa, ERHARDT Projects, FCC Aqualia, S.A., IDOM, Indra, LaLiga Professional Football League, Noatum Logistics, Porcelanosa Middle East, Royal Arrow, Sener, Teka, Técnicas Reunidas and Tubacex representatives took part in the meeting with the entire Spanish delegation, where the focus was on the importance of economic relations as a cornerstone of bilateral ties between Spain and the UAE.

The Minister stressed the crucial role played by Spanish companies as ambassadors of Spanish innovation and excellence worldwide. Mr. Albares also met with his Emirati counterpart, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, where they discussed different aspects of bilateral relations, ranging from the economic, cultural and educational fields to the regional situation.

Overall, these interactions highlight the importance of diplomacy and international cooperation to search for solutions to regional and international challenges of common interest.
